Who we are

Welcome to Black Swan Research. We primarily research equities and leverage our long-term investment horizon as a competitive advantage over all other funds. We believe that the trend of faster portfolio turnover is likely to continue. This allows us to gain a meaningful advantage if we can look over the short-term noise. We also cater to the Muslim community and the ethically conscious investors. Our strategy involves the inclusion of ~50,000 publicly listed companies as a candidate for our portfolio where only the best are chosen.

We started the fund on April 2023 with just RM 99 in paid-in capital. We expect to open the fund via boutique fund management company by 2040 where management will focus on serving qualified clients. It is expected that the management company remain asset-light and focus on the true value-add of the fund.

With our community of bright and talented people, we intend to use this community to benefit from each other. From basics of the importance to invest. And our goal for the community is to start an operating business, where we pool capital amongst members that are willing to participate. With the will of Allah anything is possible and we believe that we should strive for growth in knowledge.

Community

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”

 وَٱعْتَصِمُوا۟ بِحَبْلِ ٱللَّهِ جَمِيعًۭا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا۟                                                         (3:103)

And hold firmly together to the rope of Allah and do not be divided. We must strive for success together and form a strong unity to hold on to Allah’s covenants. We have a talented pool of people where we find unique value in every individual. The picture on the left was a class for our community called “Trade Up Thursday”. This class is under Stratton and BSR. Our ambition is to grow the financial literacy and awareness of our community members.

We have plans as a community for opening a business. There is no current business operating, however  plans were revised over and over to see which business is a potential venture.  We really believe in the value our members bring and as such we are investing a lot of time into trying to materialize the value of the relationship.

To enter the community, a small vetting process will take place, we are not a formal organization but can rather be seen as a project made by students. We have plans to become a registered business. To proceed with the vetting process please contact us.

fund manager

Handzalah is the fund manager for BSR. He researches potential investments and believe that a long-term mindset in investing is key for satisfactory returns on capital. He believes that investments into equities should be seen as investments into businesses. BSR fund is aligned with this long-termism as it is the best way for the fund to grow in net assets. Handzalah is an economics student in International Islamic University Malaysia.
