Topics discussed in tonight’s FNF:
- Carbon capture and storage (CCS) as a way to lower carbon emissions rather than focusing on just lowering plant usage
- CCS seems not too economical and efficient but even if CCS resulted in desired storage of carbon into the Earth, it is not sustainable because you are injecting carbon into the Earth’s soil, which has potential liabilities such as leakages
- A question was brought up if carbon could somehow be injected to space through an atmospheric filter
- An idea of planting trees to offset carbon emissions was brought up, however a counter-argument arose of the economics of the plan, with most countries industrializing and urbanizing
- Food business in Asia, specifically in Indonesia and Malaysia seems prosperous with a large market for businesses to compete
- Despite the high price relative to Indonesia’s average per capita income, consumers still keep buying expensive F&B products
- The culture of “lepak lepak (Malaysian for hang out)” or “nongkrong (Indonesian for hang out)” is rampant in the two countries
- Points out the clear opportunity that exists in F&B in these two countries
- Tight financial ties between US and Japan, caused the US to prop up the Japanese Yen amid lower currency value
- Japanese Yen is the 3rd most traded currency
